OK, I get it. Fewer rovers and lower expectations. So, how can we get the
most out of our half-full glass?
I'm starting my rover route planning with a blank sheet of paper so, let me
know what grids you need activated in the general area west to NW of the
Twin Cities (Mel will be roving from SE to NE of the Twin Cities).
In other words, since rovers are out there to provide multipliers (new
grids), at the end of the contest, which grids are you usually missing?

I'll be running approx. 350W into a 6-meter PAR moxon @ 35' and long 2-meter
yagi @ 30'.
Also approx. 170W into 4 x 8' yagi stack @ 25' and 2 x 8' yagi stack @ 20'
With a little luck the portable 10 GHz station will be setup where the
location terrain is favorable and conditions are "good".
With a lot of luck the MOAS 1296 portable station running approx. 35W into a
looper will be available.
SSB and CW (slow) modes available. No digital.
Obviously, this is a stop-and-shoot rover scenario.
The bottom line is that we stand a good chance of working you if we can use
the W0UC spotting coordination and conditions are reasonable.

Please send direct jim.k0mhc at earthlink.net
and I'll pull together a list of the most requested grids to help plot a
rover route.

BTW, Your station data should be entered into Paul's on-line spreadsheet so
we know what to expect. http://tinyurl.com/JuneVHF2017

Subject: [NLRS] June VHF Contest - lack of "chatter" - who's in the mix?

Just arrived in MN and had an eyeball with Mel in Rochester today. As
rovers, we're concerned about the total lack of "chatter" on the NLRS
reflector. What does this infer regarding participation in the June VHF
contest?

Hopefully, there will be a good turnout within and outside of the Twin
Cities area. Our route planning is dependent on "where-the-action-is".

Mel is good-to-go but, I've got some-assembly-required work to do as
everything is in boxes yet.

So, we'll do our best to get our rovers out there but, we need someone to
talk to (other than each other).
