Hi everyone,

The question has been asked "what are we going to do for the second
weekend".

I don't know what others want to do but I would like to follow a route
similar to
the one we used last September. We started in SE MN and traveled into NE
Iowa
on Saturday. On Sunday we started near Oelwein and went south of Waterloo
before traveling north on the west side of town. Then North back home
following
US-63. The route needs to be modified as some of the sites we used were
OK at
best. I have spent some time looking for better sites and a better
route. I would
also like to have a chance to run with the Illinois and Michigan ops and
to work
the new ops (N9LB etc) in Wisconsin.

The biggest problem we have to the SE is the apparent loss of the Buck
Hill site.
Jon, ZQ, has tried to get an answer from the owner but has been unsuccessful
so far. Previously he responded very quickly. The hill has been
transformed for
year around activities. That leaves us with a few sites near the cities
that have
fair takeoffs to the SE and a number that have good takeoffs to the
west. I will
be checking out some of those sites tomorrow. I will let everyone know
if they are usable to the SE. It's been a few years since I've been to
these sites.

The other alternative is for the fixed group to operate from Highview Road
South of Cannon Falls or from the Vasa site that is about midway between
Cannon Falls and Red Wing. Both sites have very good views to the West
through North and to the East. However, neither has views to the SE. So if
the fixed group is at either site, then the rovers will have to go to
the Buffalo
Ridge using sites from the Pipestone area and north.

Please let me know if you plan to be on for the second weekend and what
you want to do.

73, Gary WBØLJC
