[NLRS] Newbie Tips de KA0RYT - VHF wisdom

I used to live line of sight from RYT. As memory serves, I got more Q's by his presence with some watts than his absence even with receiving him greater than 60 db over S9.
When you hear RYT working someone weak, turn 180 from your bearing to RYT after you work him. The DX will have heard you working RYT from his signal that goes past you. You're closer to the DX than he is.
And hey, don't be bashful about asking RYT to pause for a moment if you're going to turn away from him to do it. If you have a decent front to back ratio, you ARE going to make it hard for him to hear you. Expect to be potentially be stepped on due to the physics of the situation unless everyone works together.
Many years ago, I lacked the wisdom and was frustrated when W0GHZ (Gary) was working a guy in St. Louis, MO on 1296. For what I heard at the time, I was certain there was enough margin to make the Q with the 10 db power disadvantage, but I succeeded neither in getting the DX stations attention, or Gary's since I was pointed away from him. My own fault, not his.
Operating VHF+ with directional antennae requires you to think about what you're doing with them.

Well , it seems that I am getting replies from offending parties referenced below ..... I need to state that NO ONE has directly said to me that there was a concerned issue with my operating techniques .... I am truly convinced that the limited few whiners and complainers / sore losers were getting a jealousy complex because they were missing out on QSOs due to the lack of not hearing the other stations I was working ( probably due to recv mixer overloading and desensing from urban enviroments or other equip. problems including station optimization ).....
I am going to pursue other venues of VHF / UHF Microwave DXing , even though I did participate in 10 VHF / UHF contests this year ( only sent in logs for 9 of them - missed the ARI - Italian EME contest DEADLINE - doh ! ) I just don't need the drama here after putting in the efforts ( even though I am extremely resource limited ! ) This is a decision that I have made and will stick to .... Yes , you guys were OK with several individuals using the calling frequency ALOT in previous years and many previous contests but now you decide to pull this intimidation B.S and log manipulation stuff with me !!! Go figure - what's even worse is that most of the "knowledgeable" NLRS membership stands by and lets you get away with it !!
C U Saturday , Ron KA0RYT EN35
PS - Don't complain about lack of activity when there is no one to help really attract DX operators attention to look our way on the bands !! Or that the above mentioned contest tactics have chased off any newbies .....
