[NLRS] Newbie Tips

Hi Doug,

A couple tips ...

Unless 6m has a big opening, most people with multple bands available are
probably going to be calling CQ or looking on 144 MHz simply because the
beam antennas most people have there have a lot more gain than their 6m
antennas. The multi-op stations will probably be CQ-ing on each band. But
I, as a single-op station, will be hanging out mostly on 144 MHz and QSY to
other bands once I work someone on 2m.

This contest has a history of poor 6m conditions. I usually have to fight
to be heard. (I'll be a Single-Op QRP Portable in EN50rl). Many stations
that are S9 here on 2m are just whispers on 6m. There HAVE been 6m openings
in some past years but they've been rare in the January contest.

So swing your beam a lot, listen over a wider range than the calling
frequencies, and call CQ at least a couple kHz off the calling frequencies.
And stay warm!

73, Zack W9SZ
