[NLRS] Big opening appears to be building in the midwest.

I see a similar thing here with my wireless Internet provider that operates in the 2.1 GHz region. The path is about 10 miles and not quite line of sight, close trees on my end, and a ridge ~4 miles away that provide blockage, so my normal operations are with scattered signals. What I have consistently noticed is that whenever there are local enhancement tropo conditions my connection goes to H. Not exactly sure of the mechanism, but I suspect that the desired signals are getting swamped by other signals from farther away.

  Interestingly, we've noticed several times
 this summer
 that when
 we
have enhanced conditions on VHF, we can't see some of
 the TV

 stations out of
Sioux Falls. For example, we have no reception of
 KSFY,
 physical channel 13, with
a reported power of 22.7 kW ERP
 with an
 antenna
 1952'AGL. The tower is 26.7
 miles from us (line
 of sight, given
 it's height),
 but we lose reception of
 the
 station whenever we have tropo
 enhancement.

Interesting.  Perhaps the antenna is above the
duct cutting it off for you.

Rovers, drive safe in this weekends contest,
have fun, and everyone send in a log.
