Hello NLRS land -
When the recent ARRL VHF/UHF Advisory Committee (VUAC) was allowed to sunset the League recognized the need to continue to work on revitalizing VHF/UHF/uW/EME contesting. To that end the League has recently created an Ad Hoc Subcommittee on VHF and Above Revitalization that is chaired by Kermit Carlson, W9XA.
The first output from this committee is a letter titled "ARRL Seeks Input on Initial VHF+ Contest Rule Changes". This letter can be found on the Leagues website at
http://www.arrl.org/news/arrl-seeks-input-on-initial-vhf-uhf-microwave-contest-rule-changes
The letter proposes some significant changes to all of VHF/UHF/uW/EME contesting. The proposed changes are
1) to remove the current prohibition on the use of Amateur and non-Amateur forms of assistance for all operator categories with such use having no impact on entry category,
2) remove the current prohibition on self-spotting for all operator categories and
3) allow single operators to transmit on more than one band at a time.
The letter with full details can be found at the above ARRL website link. The last section of the letter that is titled "What we need from you" provides directions on how to respond to the proposal. If you have an opinion on the content(s) of this letter please make sure to responds as so noted.
73, Jon
