Hello NLRS land -
The 2014 ARRL June Contest results are out. Congratulations to the NLRS for placing 10th out of 37 clubs in the Medium category. Also of note is the Badger Contesters placing 13th in the same category as well as Chippewa Valley VHF placing 2nd out of 11 clubs in the Local category.
In the Dakota Division, W0GHZ placed 1st in the SOHP category, N0EO was 1st in the Limited Multi-Op, KC0P/R placed 1st in the Rover class, and K0BBC/R placed 1st in the Limited Rover category. Over in the Central Division, W0UC placed 1st in the SOHP class. Congratulations one and all and to those that I may have missed.
With the sudden onset of winter, and with Christmas approaching, this represents a good time to warm up the soldering iron and/or to ask Santa for a new transverter. How about adding a new band, or some power, in 2015. 222 is an awesome band as is 902. Those funky uW bands at 2.3 and 3.4 GHz are very challenging yet have provided me with some of my most memorable Q's through the years. If you invest in 10 GHz you get the normal VHF/UHF contest benefits plus the fun of the 10 GHz contest in August and September. Or, consider playing in the rover category ... the Limited Rover focuses on the lowest four bands and its a great way to get into roving and to have a lot of fun.
This was a unusually busy summer for W0ZQ/R, but I do plan to be more active in 2015.
73, Jon
W0ZQ
