Hi Donn. Thanks for doing this again this year.
I'm planning to participate but am wondering if running +PTT through the
transceiver IF cable will cause you any problems or is your power meter DC
isolated?

Subject: [NLRS] uW Tune up this Saturday

To follow up on Jon's note earlier ("NLRS Breakfast and uW Tune Up"), the
kinds of things we'll try to measure:

IF Radio:
power out, Frequency, and
Mic gain (or Data gain for WSJT, etc.) to provide clean signals w/o
splatter TX stability

XVRTR:
Frequency, power out, RX and TX gain
TX Stability
Pre-amp: NF (?)
Cable losses
Ant feed Return loss (but NOT gain -- no antenna range)

System:
Sun Noise
Pwr amp output
We also want to try to take a look at system degradation when multiple
operating frequencies are in use at the same time and location. What
minimum freq seperation is needed; what effect, if any, does the use of XTAL
vs PLL LOs have, etc.

Try to remember to bring the manual(s) for your i.f. radios so we know how
to access and change the mic gain/dat input gain settings. Likewise for the
Hi/Lo power settings. Same kind of date is needed for your XVRTR to adjust
the TX and RX gain settings.

Bring your whole system, including tripod and DC power both for the sun
noise measurements and system degradation.

This can't be a "repair" session... that takes too much time per system.
The best we can do is make minor adjustments and identify big problems so
you can work on them later at home.

See you then. Hopefully, it will be a good morning/early afternoon
(sunshine and a --mostly-- clear sky).
