Just a reminder that the Central States VHF Society has a States
Above 50 MHz Award that runs each year from July 1 to June 30 of
the following year. The purpose of the award is to promote
interest in VHF/UHF operating.
You can read more about the program here:
http://www.csvhfs.org/CSVHFTST.HTML
Participation in the program (including my own) seems to have
dropped off some over the years. I was a former participant who
hadn't submitted an entry in recent years, but I've made a
resolution to do better this year. Therefore, prior to the
Perseids shower I went to the website and printed off a log form.
I used that to keep track of the 21 states/provinces that I
worked on 2m during the shower. I think it's more interesting and
more of a motivator of activity if I keep a running total going,
rather than going through old logs months later.
Also, the CSVHFS sponsors the Reverse VUCC program, with further
information here: http://www.csvhfs.org/vuccdesc.html
Actually, some of the information there is somewhat out of date,
in that I am the current administrator for the program. I'm
mentioning this because of the upcoming 10 GHz contest; chances
are that some of you who are rovers may qualify for an award
based on current and prior activity during that contest.
