Hello NLRS land -
The ARRL 2013 UHF Contest results are out on the Leagues website. Check out http://www.arrl.org/files/file/ContestResults/2013/2013-ARRL-UHF-Contest-Results-Web.pdf .
A tip of the hat to John, K9JK/R, for an excellent extended article write-up. Contest authors spend a lot of time creating these articles that we enjoy so much so make sure that you tell John (and all the other contest authors!) "thanks!" next time you see them.
For 2013, logs were down a little bit compared to 2012; 156 logs versus 171 logs. Of interest, 20% of all logs were rover logs. Think about that.
I can tell you that activity locally was pretty good even though band conditions were a sub-par on Saturday and about average on Sunday. The Upper Midwest; Minnesota through Wisconsin and into Illinois/Iowa, continues to be one of the hot beds for this fun 24 hour operating event.
Looking nationally, in the single-op low power category N9LB finished 7th, N9DG 9th, N0KP 10th (Dakota Div winner), and W0JT 11th. In the single-op high power category W0GHZ finished in 4th (Dakota Div winner) and W0UC 5th. In the Multi-op category, the Winona club using their call W0NE finished in 2nd (Dakota Div winner) while N0AKC finished in 3rd. In the Rover category, W0ZQ/R finished in 5th (Dakota Div winner) behind all the California guys, KC0P/R finished 9th, and his better half N0HZO/R finished in 10th. In the Limited Rover category we saw the dynamic duo of K0PG/R and K9ILT/R finish in 2nd and 3rd, K9JK/R 4th, and the family of KC9JTL/R and W9HQ/R finish 5th and 6th. A fine job by all and a great showing for our collective region.
Club wise, NLRS submitted the most logs (18) with Badger Contesters submitting the second highest number (14). Between the two clubs that's 32 of the 156 logs nationally. Lets see if we can keep that going! Score wise, NLRS finished in 2nd with the club competition gavel going to the California guys who submitted less than half of our logs (7) but generated nearly five times our club score. A tip of the hat to all NLRS club members who submitted a log !
Next years contest is August 2 & 3. With Christmas just ahead of us, what a great time for Santa to bring you that new 222 or 902 transverter. W0ZQ/R plans to be out and about in what is one of my favorite operating events. Hope to see you on the bands.
73, Jon
W0ZQ
