Conditions weren't good at all.  Dave did a great deal of the driving
and I listened to copious static crashes from nearby thunderstorms.
We would drive for hours on U.S. 212 without making a contact.  The
few contacts we did make felt like they were from meteor scatter.
Quick opening bursts and gone soon after.  We had a great prime rib
dinner in Faith.  Fresh from a ranch nearby. We got a good Saturday
night band opening which allowed us to put all four grids, in this
corner, on the air.  We didn't get skunked in any grid square, but
came close, in EN15. At the I-29 Summit Rest Area we worked NTØV and
KØSIX as the final QSOs of the contest.  We worked NTØV from two grids
on two meters.  Thanks for letting us know the 2M radio still worked.
A few QSL cards have arrived and LOTW has been updated from those
trying to collect grid squares.  I don't think we'll head this far
West again in 2013.  Plans are in the works to return in June 2014 to
put these rare grids on the air.  Hee Haw from the ranch lands of
