Ouch, since i only have the CD bands that represents a probable 50% hit on the number of Qs I'm going to make with the Rovairs Extraordinaires team this time around.
Using RCA jacks for power purposes has always been high on the list of things that make me grumble. And DEMI is by no means the only one guilty having used RCAs that way. What I did on all my 50-432 MHz DEMIs was replace the RCA power jack with a feedthrough cap and a pigtail that I then terminated in a .093" sized Molex plug. No more worries about someday accidentally plugging a 13.8v power RCA plug into the PTT port!
I'll be watching the 432 panadapter / waterfall for your sigs just the same...

I fried our DEMI 222 xvrter tonight
while hooking up the power. The RCA plug shorted with the
13.8 on it and the smoke that Steve puts inside the
components at the factory escaped.
So, we have moved form the Limited Rover 4 band category to
the Very Limited Rover 3 band category.
Plans remain the same, but we will NOT be on 222. Look for
us on 432.090 or the calling frequency. We can then go to
902 or 903, your preference and 1296.
Rats.
