There sure are. And most every scheme I've thought of is demonstrated 
there searching on the terms "hand soldering QFN". Even dead bug 
construction.

Looks like most depend on the board pads extending beyond the part so 
the pads can transfer heat under the pad, from soldering iron, hot air, 
or through the board from the hot plate, or a combination with a reflow 
oven.

Last week I was limited by Verizon wireless, this week I have fiber to 
the home with a significantly greater rated speed and no limit to the data.

Thanks, these will save some experimentation, and allow more interesting 
things to be done with the QFN parts.
