[NLRS] Modding my 10Gig xverter for outboard pre-amp

Hi Bruce, for planning purpose, W0GHZ did the mod you describe and did not
mention having a problem overdriving the next (second gain stage). He used
the
word bridging over the removed device position, but I failed to understand
(remember)
how physically the bridging was done.

Hello all:

I have a DEM 10GHz xverter that used the (now extinct) Fujitsu devices
for receive on the 10GHz xverter, I'm switching to a DEM 2-stage pre-amp
and need to get rid of this front device.

I can see one voltage source going to the output of the Fujitsu and a
different voltage going to the input. I'm thinking I'm gonna just
remove the resistors so that NO voltage goes to the receive path. Then
I'm thinking I'm gonna run a new trace across the munged up area where
the Fujitsu device has been sitting (and reinstalled numerous times).
So should I use copper tape cut to be about the width of all the other
receive signal lines? Or should I just lay a bare wire for that half
inch?

With the 2-stage pre-amp, and the lumpiness as I bypass this area, will
there be any problem with overdriving the "next" stage in the receive
chain? (If you recall?)

I've got the box open and just installed the A32 board. Don't know if it
works yet, but modding for the outboard pre-amp has been a long time
coming.

Any thoughts?
