I thought that everything checked out OK but my SSB mast mounted 432 pre-amp
failed to cooperate. Even bypassing it (remotely) didn’t provide for any
reception. Otherwise, propagation was mostly fair. If it weren’t for the
ROVERS and an aurora opening at 2200 on Saturday it would have been a
looooooooooooong contest. I have to admit taking some time off for family
functions during the slow afternoons.
It proved unusually difficult to make many 2304 and 3456 contacts. We had to
come back and try them a 2nd time for those that were completed. A special
thanks to K0DAS/rover who unexpectedly showed up in my neck of the woods to
activate local grids. Next time we’ll try to have 5.7 & 10 GHz on the tower.
