Greetings, Had a lot of fun after the contest this weekend. I was part
time in the contest, but enjoyed the many contacts.

After the contest, Bruce W9FZ who was up in the EN54 area did some
County Roving. Myself a long with WV9E and KA9FOX tagged a long and all
or some worked Bruce in Outagamie, Oconto,Shawano, Manitowoc and
Calumet. Some were during the contest. I think we were all up until 1AM
for the fun.

On Monday, Bruce was nice enough to detour up to Menominee County and
WV9E and I worked him there. On his way back to the Twin Cities he took
the Scenic Route so to speak and I worked him in Langlade, Taylor and
Clark Counties.

I sure encourage everyone to give this a try. It sure has been fun doing
it. KC9BQA and W9FZ started this with the idea of encouraging more
VHF/UHF activity in the area. Some are not contesters, and this is
another way to get people on the VHF.

I know that not all people are in favor of making Skeds to get contacts,
but I see it as no different than making them for a contest or chit
chat. In fact, I have been quite surprised as I have looked on QRZ for
hams in Counties that I am trying to get, and found people very willing
to give it a try. Some have had a rig with VHF capabilities and never
have it on because it is always dead air one said to me. The whole aide
is to spurn activity and have fun. I know I have talked to some who I
have heard since during the contests, who were never on other than maybe
to talk to a friend.

I hope that everyone gives it a try, and passes it a long to other hams.
Its fun just make the effort, and very interesting to see how the
propagation is on the higher bands. Any info can be found on:

Enjoy the summer. 73 John W9RPM
