Hi Jim.
Like Glen, I can't speak for the ebay tripods, but I can
give you a warning ... stay away from "camera," or "video"
tripods unless they are (truely) "professional" quality:
i.e., big, heavy, and with large-diameter tubing or
'U-channel' for legs, etc. Consumer camera tripods simply
will not support a system with anything larger than a 20dB
horn on it. Even the good "Axe-man" tripods have a tough
time with 18" dishes in moderate to high winds.
About the best I've seen that's available at reasonable cost
is the Surveyor's tripod (Menards, maybe Home Depot, others)
for about $50. Again, like Glen said, you'll have to make
you own adapter, and tie the bottom of the legs together
(not the sliding part... you need those to level the
system).
