Hello All
I complain enough about the lack of activity on VHF that I had to spend some time and effort on the Sprint last night. I have never really been "into" the Sprints. Don't know why, but a perceived notion that it would be poorly "attended". Wanted to watch Monday night football and the Twins game, but "Hey it's radio time." I'm glad I did.
I operated pretty seriously about 3/4 of the activity. The end result was 11 stations worked in 8 Grids with the best DX being WB9YWW in EN22uk 330 miles distant. Darn good signal too and I KNOW that I was 20deg or more off his heading ... (188deg). Stations worked:
W6GMT EN37
VE3KRP EN58 (5-3 nice signal Eddie)
WB0YWW EN22 (Excellent signal 5-2 or better off heading)
K0SIX EN35
K9MU EN44 (Huge signal 5-7 on the SDR, Justin has his amp working again! Must be a BIG amp??)
KC0TRX EN34 (S1 , just needed verification of his call)
K0KFC EN35
WB9LYH EN54 (Had lots of trouble gettig my grid square across)
N0EDV EN45 (Just above the noise, a struggle)
KB0CIM EN37
KA0KYZ EN33 (loud as usual)
APRS map indicated that conditions might be up a bit to the SE, but it seemed here that conditions to the south were better.
I could hear lots of very weak signals for long periods of time right at noise level SE during the first part of the activity that I could not identify. I'm guessing they didn't expect activity toward the "frozen north"!
Thanks for the Qs guys.
