The Runestone Amateur Radio Club (Alexandria, MN) will also me operating a
VHF station during field day (weather permitting).
I'm the default captain of both the VHF and GOTA stations so my single rig
will be doing double duty.
Our location will be at EN25gv which is the Lake Brophy County Park located
just west of Alexandria.
We'll be continuously monitoring 6 meters so as soon as the spectrum display
shows some activity we'll QSY from the GOTA HF bands to the VHF 6 meter band
and carry on with the demonstrations.
The GOTA HF station call sign will be mine: (K0MHC/0)
The VHF 6 meter station call sign will be the clubs: W0ALX. (I hope that we
remember to switch back and forth.)
This is a relatively good field day site with a view to the east so you can
expect to work us if you get on the air. We're running barefoot (100W)
assisted by a 13 dBd yagi @ 70' AGL.
It's unlikely that I'll have the time to get 2 meters or any other VHF bands
running so 6 and HF may be all I can muster.
Please plan to capture some media during your field day operations. Still
pics, videos and audio recordings will all be of interest to your clubs and
can be used in our introduction to VHF/UHF/Microwave video.
Local NLRS members are welcome to stop in and participate. Have a good time!
73, Jim

The Rochester Amateur Radio Club will have a Field Day operation
at the farm of W0BM at EN33PW. I have been asked to be the Captain
of the VHF station. I want to make this an introduction and training
session on what is possible on VHF SSB to a cluster of operators
that have only experienced FM activity on repeaters.
I think I will be able to drag a few of them to my station and put
them on the air using their own call sign. I would like to have a few
VHF stations listening for us on 144.200 between 3 PM and 5 PM. We
should be able to work 2m, 6m and 432 MHz. With 50 watts on 2m we
should be good to North St. Paul, Eau Claire and Redwing and anything
closer. Grand Rapids may be tough. Once we have worked the Twin City
FM Club and the 3M Club stations it gets pretty quiet. Can I get a
few volunteers to be on from 3 to 5 PM looking our way ? Pleeese !
