[NLRS] MnQP: Results for W9FZ/mobile

I had a good time out and about for the MNQP. My
participation as a mobile was in doubt until just hours to
go. I used a FT-897 with a brand new LDG AT-897 tuner. My
antennas were ham sticks with no ground what so ever.

I activated: Winona, Houston, Fillmore, Olmstead, Mower, and
Freeborn.

As you can see, I emphasized phone operation. I tried to
hold frequencies on 80, 40, and 20 with only so-so results.
On 80, they seemed to hear me just fine up in Duluth--lots
of easy Q's up that way. But other stations seemed to not
hear me :-).

I had a good time and will do it again. I need to make my
antennas more efficient. Yes, on 80 and 40, I'll be fighting
for single percentage point increases in efficiency. A
driver would be nice. As the years go by I hope to activate
many different counties around the state. My score will be
an NLRS score.

My one beef is that there is too much AM activity on
40M--and I mean ham activity. Oh sure, I can't deny anyone
their fun, but they sure hog up a bunch of spectrum.

A highlight was working Mel KC0P portable in Rice county.
Thanks for the unique mult, Mel!

   80 68 3 25
   40 30 5 14
   20 29 0 17
   15 2 0 2

TOTAL 129 8 58

------------------------- Score
--------------------------------------
Total SSB QSOs: 129 x 1 = 129 ( a )
Total CW/RTTY QSOs: 8 x 2 = 16 ( b)

Total QSO Points = a + b = 145 ( c )
Total Multipliers = 58 ( d )
Total Score = c x d = 8410

I will be taking part in the Wisconsin QSO Party but I will
be fixed in either Richland or Vernon county.
