[NLRS] W9HQ/B in EN43oq

Well the cat is starting to climb out of the bag. I did put up a beacon
this weekend at my QTH. It's at 144.285 MHz.

Currently, it's running 5 watts into a single halo at about 35 feet above
ground level. My QTH sits at 1250 feet above sea level. It will remain at
least at that level of performance from now until well into the fall, so
that it's available through the tropo season.

I hope to bump up the power level to 10 watts--that's likely to occur yet
this week as I switch it to a different rig. I also hope to put the whole
think atop my silo, which would put the antenna up another 40-50 feet. I
hope to get that done by the end of August and I will ping the groups again
at that point, to see what sort of propagation improvement that gives us.

To the best of my ability I will leave it running continuously. I'll pull
it off the air for nets, contests, etc. But it should be up the majority of
the time.

I have already gotten signal reports from La Crosse, Eau Claire, north of
Milwaukee, and as of last night from K0MHC over in MN. I would appreciate
hearing from you if you can hear the beacon. I hope it's useful to you all.

Thanks and 73,

David W9HQ
