If this subject interests you, kindly take a minute and read on.
I've been emailing with K0HL for some time as he learns more about
weak-signal VHF/UHF. He's enjoyed HF for many years. Today we had a nice
phone call and covered a lot of ground.
The upshot of all this is that he will take his mobile operation out Wed.
night, and look NE, E, SE and S from DN96, 3 miles NW of Glen Ullin, ND.
He'll be on by 8pm central time. He wouldn't mind going out earlier, if
someone skeds him ahead of time. Is there anyone willing to look his way and
try to work him? (I am also emailing some contacts I have within 300 miles
of him that may not be on the NLRS reflector)
K0HL sent me email that I could pass along to interested parties:
I will be on the air Wednesday night at 01:00 UTC 144.230 USB.
I am willing to do CW on 144.250 if anyone is interested.
If you want to do CW, email me and propose a schedule.
I am willing to schedule or coordinate on HF prior to trying 144 MHz I can
operate 10-80m on hf. I closely monitor my email, and will respond rapidly.

At this early stage, he has a 4 element quad and 50w, but he knows his
high spots and he loves CW. He's also asking about bigger yagis and would
appreciate anyone's input on 12v rotors -- he currently armstrongs it.
Today we talked about FFMA and 6m ops, and K0HL is already very interested in
putting tough grids on the air next year, during E skip season.
We already have a lot of guys on from multiple states Wed. nights, in
conjunction with the 144.240 long-range net. So Wed. night seems a logical
time to hunt DX out in DN96. More on-air activity = more possibilities.
Full info about the 144.240 net is always available on kc9bqa.com. July
27 and July 21st posts best explain how WB9LYH in EN54cl and I are always
trying to spread the RF farther and farther.
WB9LYH will have the net this week. He starts at 0100Z on 144.240,
looking NE, then E, SE, S, SW, W, NW and N (usually about 0230Z). WB9LYH
has stacked 17B2's and 500w from a ridgetop QTH. Makes many 200-400 mile
contacts with flat bands. Between us, we've made easily 200-250 unique
contacts the past 2 years on Wed. nights. (Hint -- it's the email publicity
that gets the big numbers) All are welcome and we appreciate you spreading
the word. He tends to look SW, W and NW between about 0130-0220Z.
