Just so, Zack.
Having participated as rovers for both weekends of the cumulatives,
Holly and I made approximately 380 QSOs against 24 unique stations.
It takes some basic planning, and some scouting in advance of good
operating locations certainly is helpful although not essential. I
personally want to thank my fellow rovers (and previous rovers!) for
making such detailed notes of useful locations- Jon, Gary, Bruce, Mel,
Glen, and Donn to name just a few.
Pack roving is very enjoyable, both whilst operating, as well as relaxing
over dinner during the evenings and talking - often about anything BUT
radio!
I absolutely wish to thank all of the stations that operated from fixed
locations too, whether that be Buck Hill or from home. Knowing where to
point and that there are going to be ops there ready and waiting is what
makes it possible to accumulate that number of contacts.
Roll on 2010!
