[NLRS] Output power changes with cover on box

Quick question.  When I open and close my 1296 transverter (W1GHZ 
design) case (DEMI box as used in their systems), the output power goes 
from about +8 dBm when open to about 0 dBm when closed.  What action is 
going on here and what does conventional wisdom say to do to try an 
alleviate this?
