[NLRS] Website, contests, and Central States

Hello NLRS land  

First off, I would like to throw my support behind the email from Paul,  
W0UC, regarding the NLRS website.  Our website is in need of some TLC and I  
have no doubt that we have some talented club members who would be willing to 
 help.  Make sure to drop Paul, W0UC, an email with your ideas, 
suggestions,  and/or volunteer to help.   
 
Second, its summer time and its VHF contest season.  For those who had  fun 
in last weekends June VHF contest, make sure to get your logs in and  
indicate your club affiliation too.  
 
Looking ahead, we have Field Day June 27 and 28.  Although its not a  
"contest", there is usually a lot of fun VHF activity during this event.   After 
Field Day, mark July 18 & 19 for CQWWVHF.  This is a 6 and 2m  only contest 
and offers some fun operating classifications such as "Hilltopper"  plus the 
old rover scoring rules.
 
July 23 - 25 is the Central States VHF Society conference, this year in Elk 
 Grove Village (Chicago area), IL.  Full information at _http://www.csvhf

.  If you have never attended a VHF conference, this is the one - and a  
short, easy drive. 
 
August 1 and 2 is the ARRL UHF contest, aka "Rovermania!" and for the first 
 time ever, it offers a club competition category.  Can NLRS, a VHF club  
from the upper Midwest, take home the bacon ? - we have our eye on the prize 
but  we need YOUR help - keep those transverter projects going, make some 
plans  for getting on 222 and up, think about giving roving a try, and mark 
August 1  & 2.  Remember that this is just a 24 hour contest, 1800 to 1800 utc 
 Saturday to Sunday, so don't plan on showing up Sunday night to hand out a 
 few Q's because its over by then.
