Enjoying the discussion so far. Lots of good points.
I am just beginning to ponder all of this.
So I started with what makes me uncomfortable about 2 guys
keying flashlights? If the distance is trivial, like
shouting distance, then it's just a contrived activity. We
use HT's for "beyond shouting distance". So, here at the
start, I'm starting to think about keying flashlights is
"ok" IF at distance "beyond shouting distance". I mean,
it's communicating with light and we seem unwilling to draw
a line saying "it's not radio" because we respect technology
and experimentation.
So for the sake of discussion, "what's wrong (or right) with
communicating with light that is incoherent both shorter
than and longer than shouting distance?"
Thanks,
Bruce Richardson W9FZ
