Better than zero!
:-)
In my first VHF contest ever, I used the modular 144 MHz transverter
designed by WB4EHS which appeared in Ham Radio magazine in 1989, if I
remember correctly. I had all these separate boxes for LO, mixer, receive
line, transmit line etc. sitting on the passenger seat of my car all
connected together with pieces of RG-58 and connected to an HTX-100 IF rig.
It put out about 5 watts. I had a 5 element 2m beam I built on a wooden
boom, up about 10 feet on a hilltop. I worked all of 5 people in that
contest.
