Hi Rick. Yes, per the rules an operator may indeed submit both a rover log
and a fixed station log. Make sure that your rover log states "W0IS/R"
and the entry class is rover while your fixed log states "W0IS" and
whatever your fixed class is. It is important that the stations that work
you properly log you in THEIR log too .... "W0IS/R" when you are roving and
"W0IS" when your fixed at home. Through the years many of us have gotten
sloppy at logging and may log a rover without the /R indication, or, the
rover may not sign "ROVER" and we may not realize that we just worked a
rover and need to log them as /R in our log, so rovers need to make sure
that they are signing "ROVER" and those that they work need to make sure
they log the call as "/R" in their logs. If you do not you will get
dinged. And note that in order to qualify as a rover you need to activate
at least two grids where one of those can be your home grid. My home grid
is EN34 and in the past I have submitted logs as W0ZQ SOHP in EN34 and also
W0ZQ/R roving to EN34 & EN35 (a local mini rove). Per the rules this is
legal (and fun).
As a footnote, in the past the ARRLs contest robot has had a hard time
excepting logs from both W0ZQ and W0ZQ/R. This problem has reportingly
been fixed but that I have not had an opportunity to test it more recently.
So if you do submit two logs, watch what the contest robot send back to you
and also check the "Logs Received" section to see if both "W0IS" and
"W0IS/R" get listed, not just on or the other.
Have fun in the contest, we will be looking for you (love those 223.5 FM
Q's !)
73, Jon
W0ZQ
