I'll be putting in a very minimal appearance in the VHF contest. My XYL is
going to be out of town, so at some point Saturday and/or Sunday afternoon,
I'll put the harmonics (ages 2 and 4) in the minivan, and do a rover
operation, probably just stopping for an hour or so at some points in EN34 and
EN35. I'll just have 5 watts into squalos for 2 and 432, and a vertical whip
for 6 meters. I'll also have a handheld (with just the rubber duck) for 220,
so if you're very close, I can work you on FM.
So I definitely won't be setting any records, but I hope to hand out a few
points.
I did have one question about the rules:
"Rover operators may submit separate logs for single operator (fixed station)
in addition to their rover entries."
Does this mean that I can work the same station once from EN34 as W0IS/R, and
then again at home from the same grid as W0IS? That seems to be what the rule
says, but it doesn't seem quite right. Has this come up before?
I'll also be stretching this rule just a bit:
"A rover is comprised of no more than two operators .... Any number of
observers is also allowed, however observers may not perform any rover
function at any time."
If I appoint one of them operator, and the other one observer, then the
observer will not be happy. They both enjoy saying CQ into a microphone, so
they'll both probably be helping with that function, even though it will give
me an unfair advantage. :-)
I'll try to post some approximate times before this weekend.
73,
Rick W0IS
