Hi James. By all means, bring your 222 and 432 to Rovermania, we would love
to have you. Brookings, SD, is EN14. As you may guess, while there are
some operators in the Dakotas, activity level increases as you come eastward
from EN14 towards the Twin Cities (EN34/35) and into Wisconsin & northern Ill.
None the less, I have roved the EN14/15/24/25 grid corner located just east
of Madison in western MN as well as the grid corner just south of that near
Lake Wilson, MN. It is wonderful roving country ... perhaps my favorite.
Some rovers have travelled north along Hwy 75 and/or I-29. There are several
Rovermania rovers who can assist you with suggested routes & locations so
when we get closer lets talk.
Also, thanks for your comments for adding a club competition to the UHF
contest. At this time the VUAC is discussing it, it has not been recommended as
of yet. I defer to our chair person, but I believe the timeline is to get a
proposal on various topics to the ARRL's PSC sometime in mid-December so that
they can review it ahead of the ARRL's January BOD meeting. Historically
its been demonstrated that the most significant contributor to contest growth
is by local clubs and club activities and having a club competition for the
UHF contest can only be a good thing for growth. One issue may be increased
overhead for the ARRL contest management group.
73, Jon
