Well, it's only semi-off topic, since it does involve UHF antennas. :-)
I wonder if any of the UHF experts on the list can give me an idea of whether
this is worth the trouble!
I got my free converter from the government. As JFK said, "ask not what you
can do for your country--ask them for a free TV converter!" Anyway, I'm quite
impressed with the local offerings, and this will be a good excuse to dump
cable. However, the more options, the better.
I'm located in St. Paul, and according to tvfool.com, from my location, in
addition to the local channels, WHWC-DT is 62 miles from my location. This is
the Wisconsin Public TV affilliate in Menomonie. They are on channel 27, and
according to tvfool.com, they are about 2 dB above the noise.
Also, the Shoreview towers are about 5 miles away, and almost visible.
KTCI-DT is adjacent on channel 26, and about 57 dB stronger. The two signals
are pretty much at a 90 degree angle to each other.
It would be nice to get a couple more programs, if it's feasible.
Do you think I can pull in the Wisconsin station without getting too
elaborate? Would a commercial corner reflector antenna do the trick? Or do
you think the signal is too weak and/or too much adjacent channel QRM to pull
it off?
TNX & 73!
