Here are my contest totals for the June contest:
6M: 209 x 93
2M: 46 x 22
222: 9 x 7
432: 13 x 6
902: 3 x 3
1296: 4 x 3
Totals: 284 Qs (320 QSO points) x 134 Grids = 42,880 points
I echo the same sentiment as many others have about 6M. I tried numerous times to hold down a spot and call CQ, but could only get one small run of about 30 stations early Sunday evening. I had to resort to hunt and pounce for the vast majority of my 6M Qs. For as good as the Es seemed to be, it sure didn't play the way it did two years ago when I piled up 500 Qs in 5 hours. I did manage to snag about 7 or 8 new grids on 6 that I had never worked before.
The upper bands were pretty dismal - I guess partly becasue I spent so much time on 6M. This is by far the worst I have ever done on 222 and up. My 432 station just does not hear well and I am not sure why.
On the bright side of things, I did manage to get in on some of the 2M Es opening to Texas, working seven stations in EM00 and EL09. I think I could have worked a lot more stations on 2M in that opening, but there did not seem to be very many stations on the other end on 2M. I guess they had such a tremendous opening on 6M, that almost nobody down there was on 2M. One station I worked, who was S9, said he was only running 10 watts!
I also got in on some of the Au Saturday afternoon, picking up a few good grids on 2M and a couple on 6M.
Overall, it was a decent contest, but I am frustrated by how poorly I did on the upper bands. I have some station problems that I need to get sorted out before August. Hopefully things will be playing better then.
Charlie, N0AKC
