Good day Jon and NLRS,
N9UM Mark posted the following plans to the
SMC reflector yesterday morning. (SMC is the
Illinois club that is HF/VHF/UHF. They did an
amazing job with the June contest this year and
got over 70 log submissions, leading the country.
Kevin W9GKA has a lot to do with leading that
push.)
Anyway, Mark asked me to post their multi-op
plans to anyone I could think of. So I am.
(While you're looking toward Chicago, also make
sure to look toward Milwaukee and just north of
Milwaukee. Should be several of us, including myself,
on for this weekend's contest, as well as the ARRL V/UHF
one on Sept. 13th/14th)
N9UM's multi-op announcement to follow:
>>Howdy...
N9UM, KG9IL and K9IJ will be multi-op as KI9R for the
Aug UHF contest from EN52xc.
222, 432, 903, 1296, 2304, 3456(TU JK) 10G and laser
all 24 hours of the contest.
We will be monitoring 223.500 and 446.000 the entire
contest for those in the Chicago area who have FM on these
bands. I will send an email later in the week announcing our
2m freq as soon as I figure out what everyone is going to use.
The contest does not include 2m, however a 2m freq is used to
coordinate moving to higher bands.
Our 10G station is still not 100% completed and we are
hoping to have this figured out by the end of the week.
For those of you who have IC706s, FT100s, IC7000 etc, even
if you don't have a beam or horizontal antenna, load up your FM
vertical on 432 and get on the air. People will hear you. If you
are willing to load up your 20m vertical on 160 for a contest,
using your FM stick for 432 SSB/CW is not that much of a stretch :)
This is not a HF contest and the rate is much slower than most
contests. The ops will spend several minutes trying to work
someone so be patient and the Qs will happen.
Those of you with FM only on these bands, call CQ on
223.500 / 446.00 or just leave a radio parked on these freqs all
weekend. If you are out in your car, put these freqs in the radio
and listen while you drive. Mobile stations can really be a big
benefit
to the contest if you visit more than one grid. Some of the
stations
in the circle can hear REALLY well, even on FM, so give it a try.
I will give more specifics on our location later in the week and we
encourage everyone to stop by and say hello. Bring your 220/440
handie-talkie and work us while you are visiting or just stop by to
check it out.
More to follow...
If you have questions or want to learn more about this contest,
email
me directly and I will be glad to help.
Mark
