Yes, lots of good info on the modulatedlight.org web page. Mostly under
two years old. I like his info on focusing the transmiter LED and the
difference between Fresnel lenses. I wouldn't have thought of using
foam-core art board to make the enclosure. I've seen some recently at
one of the Dollar stores in town. And they have plenty of cheap picture
frames for mounting the fresnel "whole page" magnifiers. Over-all there
are several good ideas on the page, and I haven't even looked at the
electronics yet.
His point about AM versus FM modulation was interesting too. If we get
to the point of building some equipment, maybe we can run some tests to
verify. But there are certainly some advantages of ease in the PWM voice
modulation circuit. But I expect you need some really outstanding
amounts of audio gain to make up for what the 2M HT receiver would give
us. More reason to play. Using low frequency keying with computer sound
card software might still be interesting.
