Hello NLRS land.
Historically speaking, during our NLRS meeting, we have voted to donate club
money to the ARRL's Education & Technology Program as well as QTH.net. The
donation amount has varied a little bit over time, but has typically been
$200 to QTH.net and $100 to the ARRL's Education & Technology fund. As we are
a small club with yearly income based mostly from dues that amounts to about
$425 per year, this is a fair chunk of our budget. Our clubs bank balance
typically sustains itself around $1,000 with yearly income and expenditures
balancing out. I think its significant to note that club members also donate to
QTH.net on an individual basis via the Aurora'08 registration process and
perhaps even individually throughout the year. Last year we also captured $
285 of club member donations for QTH.net.
Looking forward to possible donations for 2008, I would like to float the
general idea that we continue to donate at this overall level but that we
include the ARRLs Spectrum Defense Fund. One thought would be to donate $100
each to the ARRL's Spectrum Defense Fund, their Education & Technology Fund, and
to QTH.net for a total of $300.
This is just my thought, but I wanted to plant the seeds for discussion at
our business meeting.
73, Jon
