Is it standard practice to just use RIT at each end and
leave the transmit frequency alone?
Hi Scott. It depends. Generally speaking, if you are working just one,
perhaps two, other stations, then yes use your RIT. Sometimes when there is
more than one station on its best NOT to use your RIT but to simply retune
your radios VFO each time you switch from transmit back to receive. Unless
the storm is close, or in more rare cases it extremely windy, the Doppler shift
is not that significant and minor retuning is all that is needed.
Microwavers made GOOD use of their VFO knobs !
