Hi Bill. Great report. My 902 is currently on the bench in about 20
pieces. I'm working on an upgrade so that its roverable (is that a word
?) with perhaps 35 watts or so. I am hoping to be able to complete that
project in the next few weeks, then we can give 902 a shot. My experience
is that Gary hears you much better from his QTH on the north side of town
than I do from my QTH on the south side of town, so it will be interesting
to see if that plays out on 902 as well. 902 itself is a great band. In
the big city we have problems with all the baby monitors, cordless phones,
and boops & beeps from all sorts of crude. However, when out roving, its
often very quiet and I have had great luck with running Gary's 8 watt
loaner rig and an end mount 6' looper. Last Rovermania I worked K2YAZ in
EN74 from the EN24/EN25 grid line with that set up. 902 seems to play
more like 432 than 1296.
Looking forward to seeing you and everyone else at Aurora.
73, Jon
