The only problem I have had with computer generated
noise came when using my FT817 and my laptop. I
discovered the noise was conducted along the serial
interface cable between the computer and the radio.
Putting a toroid on the cable removed most of the
noise. The noise was actually from the power supply
and went away when I ran the laptop on the battery.
No noise problems from my desktop in the shack. But
the antennas are over 50' away. My HF beam on the
roof does pick up noise from 10-20 meters from the
computer in the upstairs office, which is only about
12' away. I'm still working on that one.
