Dave,
Almost any of the mapping programs will take input from a GPS and center
the map on that position. When I have the laptop in the car, I use DeLorme
Topo 3.0 (Its up to at least version 5.0 by now), and my 10 year old Garmin
II Plus GPS engine.
Topo 3.0 shown elevation, streets, etc. It will give you "shaded relief"
if you want to waste the CPU cycles. It has a "grid" display whic is NOT
Maidenhead grids, but simply latitude and longitude. I use the Grid
display on the Garmin GPS to find out what one I"m in. (Easier than trying
to do the calucuation in my head from the map. More accurate, too !)
I've also found that I cannot reaqlly read the map, etc., while in the car.
At least while in motion. Your eyes may be better than mine, though.
Want a demo on Tuesday ?

capability to show your Grid Square. Yes I do have a Hand held GPS unit,
but I use a computer in the truck for Emails and other things and it would
be great to put on it a street map that showed elevation and grid squares
will driving around. TNX Dave NØKP
