Hi Guys & Gals;
We just decomissioned a Motorola PURC 2M paging base station that uses one of
those nice amplifiers employing a pair of 8560 conduction cooled ceramic
tetrodes. You've seen these at swap-fests. They're the ones with the two doors
on the front. Anyway, this was a functioning unit in "like-new" condition. It,
along with the metering panel (grid current, plate current, plate voltage) are
available to anyone who could use it on a first come, first served basis. Here's
the catch... Due to the toxicity of the beryllium thermal conductive pads on the
ceramic tetrodes, we can not give that part away. To make sure I didn't
"dumpster dive" and get it back, my boss watched while I destroyed the massive
heatsink with its beryllium thermal pads and put it in the toxic waste barrel.
So, you don't get the heatsink and thermal pads with the PA. I'm sure someone
can fashion a work-around, or use it to serve as spare parts for one they
already own.
If you want this, let me know and we'll make arrangements to either have you
stop by work in Golden Valley on a workday, or I can take it home and you can
drive out to Saint Bonifacius and pick it up.
You can reach me at work 612-596-1957 until 3PM, at home after 4PM 952-446-9036,
or email me.
73, John, K0PW
