I just heard from my cousin Tim that he has been working with N8XJK.  They are selling models of the battery booster (assembled and tested in aluminum enclosure) described in Aug. 2004 QST.  You can contact him at timig at email.com, or Dan, N8XJK at drk at pasty.com if you are interested.
 
(I haven't used this battery booster, and I don't have any financial interest in it.  I'm just passing this along for anyone interested in an alternative to the w4rry product.)
