Most of the mods lists like DK have mods that work from the front panel.
Essentially they work offsets and memories to stretch the limits
probably with a limit on 2m of 140 to 150 MHz which is enough for MARS
and CAP, but not for fire and weather. I'm sure more drastic mods could
be contrived to increase the range further.
One could build a converter with 430 to 450 input and 140 to 160 output
as another more complex attack.
I'd rather trade for an FT-857D and apply the MARS mod.
