[NLRS] Transverters vs radios

Hi all, thanks for the comments on this. I guess after reading them I
still find myself conflicted. On one hand it would be nice to have a
radio all in one package that did it all. It might also help me to get
on more during contests or whenever just because it's easier and in my
hectic life that's important. I too am waiting with baited breath to
see what Jerry has on improving the listening sensitivity of the radio.
Transverters do seem like alot of bother but by using them one can
really get state of the art preformance as well as flexibility.
Part of this for me is I really like the idea of trying the SDR1000, the
bandscope seems like a really neat tool. It also sounds like it
integrates well with many of the software modes like JT44 and psk31 and
so fourth. It's just expensive and complicated and given the time I
have to mess with it I'm not sure about it right now.

A couple of people mentioned using transverters on my exsisting rigs
right now and then later being able to move them to the SDR1000 if and
when I get one. A couple of radios I didn't mention that I have because
they are HF only are a TS530S and an FT 747. Would either of those make
good IF rigs for transverters??? Otherwise I could use the 706 and
experiment. Maybe 902-3 or something since the 736 can't do that anyway.

Thanks again
MIke
