Hi all and Happy Solstice
I'll dig through my notes but here are some
approximate
areas that I have used for the 10 and up contest
(actual grids/info) to follow....
Cana Island Lake MI shore in Door county - Started
here for the September part of the contest. Good view
across the lake to K2YAZ. 10 and 24G contacts.
An obstructed view to Manistique.
White fish Bay - Door county - again, good view
to K2YAZ, 10 and 24G across the lake.
Various roadside parks near Alaska, WI - again a
good shot to YAZ and Sleeping Bear Dunes - 10/24
Manitowoc - long lakeside run with plenty of parks
to setup - 10/24
Other 'good spots' were Sheboygan Harbor, Port
Washington, Milwaukee Lakefront, Racine and Kenosha
harbors, and Winthrop Harbor, IL.
Winthrop Harbor has a good 180 deg view to YAZ
and also down to Indianna Dunes.
Illinois State Beach Park - another good site
with near 180 deg views but a bit more crowded with
a public beach.
Waukegan Harbor break water - another good out in
the lake spot with a good shot towards IN and N. MI
but the best spot is the harbor entrance and you
might have to lug the gear.
As you can see, these spots were optimum for shots
across the lake for 10 and UP. There are also
some good rover locations inland which possibly
some of the other BC'ers can add to.
