Hello NLRS Land. If I may stick my politically correct neck out, Happy
Easter too.

After some off-line discussions, here are the current plans for the SBMS 2.3
GHz & Up Contest for April 29 and 30. Please remember that this is a club
aggragate scoring contest, individual scores are not tracked, but you will
need to keep your own log (that includes six digit grids) and then forward
your log to me after the contest. I will compile and submit our club score.

Saturday, April 29th.
This is the day of Aurora'06. The PRIMARY purpose of the day is our
antenna range and flea market in the morning, and the technical conference in the
afternoon. We shall not get in the way of that. One suggestion has been
made to have a "mini-activity" time for those who are interested ; I suggest
the 11:30 to noon time frame, thus allowing us time to wrap up on the antenna
range. I will be bringing my 2.3 thru 24 GHz and will be able to "zoom" out
one km to work back to the parking lot if need be. The primary interest is
unique's (each are 100 pts), so if you want, if you have a 2.3 and up
portable system, bring it and lets see what we can do. Remember that all contacts
need to be at least 1 km.

Sunday, April 30th.
I have check with Buck Hill management and we are good to go ! Thanks Rich
for the contact. The following group will be setting up there ; N0KP,
KD0JI, WB0LJC. Who else would like to join them ? In addition, I know the
following fixed-home stations will be on : K0KFC, W0GHZ. A rover pack
consisting of WA2VOI, W0ZQ, W0JT, KC0P, and KC0IYT plan to meet at Cannon Falls at
9:30 am (Highview). From there the rover pack will be able to work ANY OTHER
10 gig station that can see downtown (IDS). As such, please plan on 9:30
am as the primary activity time for 10gigs off of downtown. After that the
rover pack is headed south down Hwy 52 to Hader, then south on MN 57 to the S.
Wanimingo site. The rover pack will need to move at least 10 miles between
stops. We will be using 146.46 and 144.260 along with cell phones (legal)
and oh ya, good old fashion beaconing & yelling. These distances should be
easy. All five planned rovers have 10 gigs, four have 2.3, three have 3.4
and one has 5.7. Donn and I have 24 G.

Our goal is to have fun and the pace will be easy. People may come and
join us, or leave, at any time. This is a great time to check out your 2.3 and
up equipment, or to see what microwave is like. Remember, its a club
aggregate score so the NLRS can use you ! Listen on 146.46 and 144.260 for
activity or give a call to see who's listening and looking for some Q's ....
again, the Buck Hill group should be able to hear most everyone.

>From Buck Hill shots to Wisconsin should be doable .... any of the CVCC guys
wanna come out and play ? How about the Red Wing guys ?

If we have bad weather we are all planning to go over to KP's house and
watch NASCAR.

73, Jon
W0ZQ

Come and join us here in Bloomington, Minnesota, home of the Mall of
America, July 27 & 28, 2006 for the 40th annual Central States VHF Society
Conference hosted once again by the NLRS.
