Well I did get on shortly after 7 PM last night and was
running the DXDash logger program for the ~3hrs I was on.
Even with the typical slow pace and lackluster participation
of a sprint contest around here it was fun. I found that
watching the score change and grow near "real-time" for my
"competition" was definitely a motivator. I found my self
thinking along the lines of: "if I can just make 2 more Q's
and another grid it will put me ahead of station K#XYZ".
Conceptually this kind of thought process is along the lines
of a racehorse running faster and harder if they are running
against another horse than if running alone.
Being a sprint and being 6M (6M not one of my stronger bands)
my score was pretty ho-hum. Although I did hear bits and
pieces of some NE/East coast stations but nobody that I could
work. I got on just before the world series started and it
seemed that many of the local-ish stations that I first heard
when I got on just evaporated at around 7:15P. I can only
wonder how much better the sprint would have been if it
wasn't for the baseball game, oh well.
