Hi Gang, I am very happy to announce that NLRS took 4th in the 2005 San
Bernadnio
Microwave Society's 2 GHz and UP Contest. A nice plaque was presented at
the MUD banquet Saturday night. I'll get it to Jon, W0ZQ who gets to
keep it as President, I guess.

Thanks Donn, that's great !
For those who may not be familiar with the SBMS 2 GHz and Up Club contest,
the event is held at the end of April, it is a 24 hr contest, is 2304 and
up, and the scoring format is accumulative distance (ala the ARRLs 10 GHz &
Up contest). There are no individual scores, only club scores.
Although the NLRS has some entries in the previous years, last year was the
first year we mounted a somewhat serious, ..... ok, somewhat semi-serious,
effort, with scores from 10 club members. Somewhat to my surprise, I
found this contest to be a lot of fun, and I plan to be back in 2006. Its
a great contest for simply playing around on the microwave bands and for
roving as you can leave those big 1296 and down antennas at home !
You can find the final club scores and a link to the last years contest
rules at http://www.ham-radio.com/sbms/club_test/2ghz_up_test.html
73, Jon
W0ZQ
