Hi Gary,
Thanks for stepping up.
Count me in... both weekends. I'll do either; be a fixed station, or a
Rover. If Rover, I could take one other station with me.
The map shows there are several "routes" that can be used in SCentral and
SWestern MN: MN15 south from US12 to Fairmont; MN4 from I90 north to US12
(approx. 15 mi west of MN15); US71 south from US12 to I90 (approx 18 mi
west of MN4); and US59 north from Worthington to MN23 to Wilmar. These
aqre all out "in the open," so to speak. Drive 10 miles, exit on a section
road, setup, make Qs, go back to main road; repeat. If conditions don't
support Qs from the eastern-most routes, go west until you can make Q's,
and then drive that route.
If things are really bad, go west to US75 at Luverne and go all the way
north to I94 at Barnsville, then go east to US59 at Fergus Falls and go
south again. A set of routes further east would be better, but hey, do
what you have to do to get Qs. 4.5 Qs per hour at modest distances (100-150
km) provide more points that 1 Q per hour at long distance (200-225km).
(Most of the routes above fall in the 100-175 km range; 200 km is basically
the Metro area.)
