KB9TLV no longer has email, so he asked if I would post his contest
intentions for him.
Last Saturday I helped John get a 30 ft. tower set up and 6 antennas (6, 2,
222, 432, 902 & 1296). John has been working to get the felines terminated
and I did a test run with him this evening on several bands. First off, he
has a 5:1 SWR on 222 and is not sure if he will have it resolved for this
weekend. Second, one of his radios failed and it was to be the IF for 902,
so that band is defiantly off the air for the weekend.
So as it stands now, John will be active on 6, 2, 432 & 1296. He is located
at Cumberland, WI, grid EN45. When we tested this evening, John had very
good signals on 6, 2 & 432. We were not able to work on 1296. John is new
to the band, plus his antenna is on about 33 feet about the ground and below
treetop level, so I am not sure how well that band will perform for him.
However, it is worth a try, especially for the rovers who will be venturing
into that area.
If John is able to get the 222 problem resolved, he will let me know and I
will post to the groups.
Charlie, N0AKC
