For those interested in 10Ghz RS

Yesterday afternoon there were several TS systems that afforded
attemps on 10Ghz RS with W9ZIH and also VE3KRP. Nothing was
heard on either attempt, sorry to say. It was my first attempt with both.

Gary W0GHZ had worked Ron-ZIH Saturday night on 5&10Ghz RS
and we had a cell with tops in the 40k to 45k range NE of EauClaire
early Sunday afternoon. I used ARGO to look for Ron's signal after
not hearing anything and saw/heard nothing on the 433mile path. The
cell was big enough and close enough to midpath to be worth a "shot".

Then last night shortly after 5pm, Eddie VE3KRP and I tried. Not as
large of cell, but still tops in the 40k range SE oy Ely almost directly in
the path. Again nothing heard or seen on the 220 mile path.

Gary and I worked several times yesterday with signals as good as
5-4 SSB even if we never had a "big" cell between us. Five tropo and
five RS contacts last week with Gary on 10Ghz were logged.

Argo has proved to be a helpful program when 10Ghz signals are too
weak to hear or copy comfortably. It allows at least verification of the
signal for conditions are not good enough for a contact. Argo provides
an audio frequency "waterfall" that was developed for the LF crowd for
extremely slow CW . It sure allows documention of freq stability, or
lack there of! Free download at http://www.weaksignals.com/

Looking forward to next weekend!! Between Gary and I 432 has
been better that 2m very often in the last couple of weeks. It will be
VERY interesting to see what kind of conditions we have for the "test".

Good DX .... Bill K0AWU EN37ed
